GEP is a volunteer platform built on the principle of educational equality. It brings together Bilkent students and children who may have limited socio-economic or academic opportunities. The project’s core mission is not just to improve grades, but to empower children, build their self-confidence, and broaden their horizons by introducing them to new perspectives. GEP carries out its mission through two primary pillars: Academic Tutoring: Bilkent volunteers provide support in core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Science, and Turkish. Through one-on-one or group study sessions, they help students overcome academic challenges and build a strong educational foundation. Social Activities and Mentorship:Education at GEP goes far beyond textbooks. Volunteers organize theater trips, museum visits, sports activities, and creative workshops. These events are designed to help children discover new hobbies, foster their imagination, and experience the world outside their immediate environment. The Impact of Volunteering 1. Positive Role Models: More than just "tutors," Bilkent volunteers act as older brothers and sisters. This mentorship helps children visualize a future in higher education and boosts their motivation to succeed. 3. Social Responsibility: For Bilkent students, GEP provides a profound understanding of social challenges and the rewarding experience of making a tangible difference in a child’s life. The GEP is about more than just teaching a lesson; it is about inspiring a child to say, "I can do this." By combining the energy of Bilkent volunteers with the curiosity of young students, GEP continues to build a bridge of knowledge and hope for a brighter future.
