Turkish Competition Board Imposes Interim Measures on Meta Over WhatsApp AI Services
Meta was ordered to establish conditions that do not make it practically or economically difficult for third-party general-purpose AI assistants to operate through WhatsApp.
The Turkish Competition Board published its decision dated 14 May 2026 and numbered 26-18/536-193. It imposed interim measures on the economic unit comprising Meta Platforms, Inc., Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, WhatsApp LLC and Meta Platforms İstanbul. Companies expressly contacted or named in the market assessment are linked for context and are not addressees of the measures.
